Day Kimball Health is hiring an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Putnam, CT team. The position offers 24 hours per week with 8-hour shifts and a 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM schedule, every other weekend and holiday.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• RN license issued by the state of Connecticut is required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department.
• Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination.
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area.
• Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses.
• Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record.
• Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy.
• Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients.
