Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT, is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The role involves providing emergent and restorative care using a relationship-based nursing model in a collaborative environment.

The position requires CT RN licensure, an accredited nursing degree, and CPR certification. Shifts are 12-hour, with 24 hours per week, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department
• Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area
• Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
• Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
• Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients
