Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking an ED Registration Clerk to join our team. This role handles patient intake, demographics, and insurance data for ED, inpatient, and outpatient services, creating accurate billing accounts and ensuring a positive first impression for patients and visitors.

The position includes 2nd shift hours (2:30 pm – 11:30 pm), 40 hours per week, and benefits eligibility. Responsibilities include registering patients, verifying information, collecting payments, and supporting

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years registration in an Emergency or Urgent Care setting preferred.
• Strong background in medical terminology.
• Experience in working directly with the public in a service industry is strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel; proficient typing.
• Ability to maintain accuracy while multitasking in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including professional telephone etiquette.
• Ability to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Register patients arriving at Beloit Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
• Collect and enter patient demographics, insurance and billing information into the system.
• Verify insurance information for walk-ins and EMS arrivals; update as needed.
• Generate registrations, notify and collect patient financial responsibility.
• Identify patients without insurance and inform them about financial assistance options.
• Balance cash drawer and maintain accuracy at shift end.
• Coordinate patient placement with nursing and other departments.
