Job summary

MaineHealth Waldo Hospital in Belfast, ME seeks a Patient Access Associate I in the Emergency Department for evening shifts. You will be the first point of contact, verify demographics and insurance, and coordinate admissions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Related healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
• Skills: Computer and data entry with Word, email, internet; able to use electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact in ED for patient identification and armband application.
• Provide patient and visitor customer service and support.
• Verify demographics and insurance, obtain signatures for consent, and complete admissions.
• May include financial navigation, copay collections, transfers/direct admits.
• Ensure accuracy of the patient’s bill and follow-up post-discharge.
