Job summary

Domestic Abuse Women's Network in Kent, WA is seeking a full-time Shelter Advocate to provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy inside a confidential DV Emergency Shelter. You will perform crisis intervention, safety planning, resources and information-based counseling, and advocacy for survivors and their children.

This role requires empathy, teamwork, and the ability to travel between shelter locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred; advocacy-related experience valued.
• 1–2 years advocacy experience preferred; lived experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Listen, support, and provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy for survivors and children.
• Develop safety plans with survivors based on priorities and circumstances.
• Connect services for shelter, housing, legal, immigration, health, and child support needs.
• Build relationships with service providers and act as liaison between clients and providers.
• May facilitate community support groups and participate in outreach activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
