Job summary

SafeSpace, Inc. is seeking a DV Shelter Advocate to provide crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for survivors in the emergency shelter. The role emphasizes empowerment, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered services across intake, safety planning, and resource linkage.

The Advocate supports daily shelter operations, conducts hotline assessments, coordinates with external agencies, and participates in team meetings to uphold confidentiality and client well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.
• Experience in victim services for DV/sexual violence preferred.
• Ability to engage survivors with trauma-informed approach.
• Strong communication and confidentiality skills.
• Must have or gain knowledge of Florida DV statutes and victim rights.

Responsibilities

• Handle hotline calls and assess eligibility, provide crisis intervention.
• Facilitate shelter orientation and complete 24-hour intakes.
• Schedule case management and safety planning with survivors.
• Enter client data into agency database and maintain confidentiality.
• Coordinate referrals to legal, housing, medical, and social services.
• Provide court accompaniment and victim compensation assistance.
• Lead weekly groups and participate in staff meetings.
