Job summary

Bancroft is looking for a Direct Support Professional for the evening shifts in Dumont, NJ. You will support individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, following behavioral plans and participating in daily living activities.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; experience with autism is preferred. Competitive salary with benefits and paid time off are offered.

Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Empathy and patience in caregiving are important.
• Strong desire to work with autistic/intellectually or developmentally disabled individuals.

Responsibilities

• Carry out behavioral treatment plans and collect observational data.
• Assist with daily living activities (hygiene, meal prep, budget, housekeeping).
• Provide personal care and supervision to support growth and transition to less restrictive housing.
• Accompany residents to healthcare appointments and community outings; provide safe transport.
• Resolve problem behavior situations following safety and crisis procedures.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain regular documentation; communicate with residents, families and guardians.
