Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual methods while following DOT guidelines. You will help secure loads, read shipping documentation, and monitor shipment locations in the yard management system.

This role supports safe, on-time deliveries in a fast-paced center. The position requires a high school diploma, familiarity with freight forms, and the ability to operate a handheld tablet.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to monitor shipment locations via dock yard management system.
• Must be able to operate a handheld tablet.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight on trailers using forklift or manually.
• Transport freight within the service center while ensuring safety.
• Monitor freight locations with the yard management system.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using straps and airbags.
• Ensure quality loading of trailers and meet schedules.
