Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual handling while ensuring cargo safety and accurate placement on trucks.

The role requires adherence to DOT guidelines, strong safety discipline, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment within our service centers. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have working knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Ability to utilize dock yard management systems to monitor shipment locations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or by hand.
• Transport personnel and freight within service center on various surfaces.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms for freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and other equipment.
• Ensure the quality loading of all trailers and proper securing of cargo.
• Frequent communication with service center personnel; fast-paced and deadline-driven.
• Perform duties as assigned and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Maintain compliance with DOT guidelines and safety standards.
