Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee shift operations, ensure safety, and drive efficiency across the freight network. You will manage dock teams, supervise loading/unloading, and use OD’s technology to monitor shipments in real time.

The role emphasizes safety compliance, performance metrics, and collaboration with site leadership to meet daily objectives and service standards.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years in operations, preferably in transportation; supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate safety of each employee daily.
• Oversee safe loading/unloading processes and housekeeping for safety and productivity.
• Supervise dock employees and allocate shifts to meet OD and customer expectations.
• Manage dock work schedules and time off requests.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager to align with daily/weekly/monthly objectives.
• Provide feedback on performance metrics and address disciplinary actions when needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Operate OD systems to monitor freight movement and communicate schedules.
