Essential Functions of Dietary Cook:
- Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and ensure timely preparation.
- Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit orders to Dietary Supervisor.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining perpetual supplies inventory, notifying Dietary Supervisor of shortages or discrepancies.
- Consult with Dietary Supervisor regarding use of leftovers, proper storage, and labeling.
- Consult registered dietitian on modified diets.
- Supervise dietary workers during food washing, trimming, or preparation.
- Assist in training, orientation, and supervision of newly hired dietary staff.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes, using appropriate kitchen equipment.
- Cook meats, fish, and poultry using various methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming; carve into individual servings per menu and resident diet orders.
- Test food temperatures to ensure safety.
- Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed, labeling them with resident name and room number.
- Always observe infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Perform all aspects of resident care in a manner that ensures safety and reduces errors.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of Dietary Cook:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 1 year of experience preferred.
- Candidates must maintain a valid email and phone number for communication.
- Flexible scheduling as the facility operates 24/7.
- Demonstrate open communication, professionalism, ethical practice, and relationship management.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
