Job summary

The Payette School District is seeking a part-time Custodian to work evening shifts and help maintain a clean, safe school environment. This role involves routine cleaning, sanitizing restrooms, and light maintenance to ensure the facilities are welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

You will work under the Maintenance Director and collaborate with the Building Administrative team, following safety procedures and district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage time.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and students.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and carpets.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Maintain cleanliness of doors, windows, walls, and furniture.
• Restock restroom supplies including paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for school activities and events.
• Assist with building security by locking and unlocking doors as assigned.
• Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or adjusting fixtures.
• Follow safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Assist with seasonal duties such as snow removal or grounds cleanup as assigned.
• Maintain custodial equipment and storage areas in an organized and safe manner.
• Support a positive and respectful school environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Work Schedule: Year-round | Part-Time, Evenings during the School Year.
Reports To: Maintenance Director. Works closely with the Building Administrative team.

Position Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance duties to ensure school facilities are welcoming and functional for students, staff, and visitors. Custodians play an important role in supporting a positive learning environment by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and facility care.

This is a part-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
