Job summary

Dartmouth College is seeking a Custodian for the second shift in Hanover, NH. The role involves cleaning, event setup, and occasional outdoor tasks, with responsibilities including maintenance of facilities and adherence to safety procedures.

Second shift hours commonly run in the late afternoon to evening, with two consecutive days off. This is a union position under SEIU with a regular full-time schedule and onsite work eligibility.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in custodial work.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor, including lifting and carrying light to medium weight objects.
• Must be able to work from ladders to clean fixtures.
• Operate and maintain heavy cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, scrubber, buffer, carpet shampooer).
• Understand safe use of cleaning chemicals and insect control substances.
• Familiarity with event setup for chairs and tables arrangements.
• Willing to work mandatory overtime when required.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Unlocks/locks spaces daily and cleans floors, restrooms, and common areas.
• Daily cleaning of restrooms, restocking supplies, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Empties trash, follows recycling procedures, and removes trash from building areas.
• Supports event setup/breakdown (tables, chairs, lecterns, podiums).
• Performs light maintenance tasks as needed and aids in safety/compliance.
