Job summary

Dartmouth College is seeking a Custodian for the 3rd shift to support facilities across campus in Hanover, NH. The role involves cleaning, event setup, and basic maintenance, with heavy lifting and use of cleaning equipment. You will work evenings with a two-day off period, including a shift differential.

Eligibility includes 1-2 years custodial experience, ability to work with others, and willingness to complete required safety trainings. Onsite position, full-time, with standard 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of custodial work experience.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (vacuum, scrubber, buffer, carpet shampooer).
• Use a step-ladder to access lighting fixtures and bulbs.
• Understand safety procedures for chemicals used in cleaning and insect control.
• Learn event setup layouts (tables/chairs).
• Follow verbal and written instructions, perform physical labor, and work overtime as required.
• Complete required training: Hazard Communication, Blood Borne Pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Unlocks/locks spaces and cleans floors, restrooms, and common areas daily.
• Vacuums, shampoos carpets, washes windows, dusts furniture and sills.
• Sets up and breaks down for College events (tables, chairs, lecterns, etc.).
• Maintains safety by handling chemicals properly and using ladders when needed.
• Implements recycling procedures and participates in DEI initiatives.
• Supports supervision in daily operations and may assist the squad leader.
