Job summary

North Branford Public Schools is seeking an evening shift Custodian. The role supports operations staff by cleaning floors, fixtures, bathrooms and cafeterias, stocking supplies, and performing light maintenance.

Qualifications

• Some high school coursework and two years of relevant experience. Other relevant training or experience may be substituted at the discretion of the school administration.
• Must be able to follow routine procedures and respond to written and oral instructions.
• Applicant must be able to perform all essential and physical functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors; vacuum carpets; use floor equipment as required.
• Clean fixtures, windows, blinds, draperies; dust furniture and equipment; maintain walls, ceilings, woodwork and metalwork; replace consumables as needed.
• Clean bathrooms; stock with paper goods and materials.
• Clean cafeteria during and after meals; move tables as required.
• Inventory, requisition and replenish custodial and consumable supplies; replace light bulbs and fixtures.
• Empties waste baskets and transports trash; processes recyclables.
• Cuts and trims grass; remove debris; shovels snow; may work outside normal hours.
• Unloads and transports materials; sets up tables and chairs as needed.
• Check building operation; clean mechanical equipment; perform repairs; report abnormalities; secure building on departure.
