Job summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard. The Supervisor leads a frontline custodial team, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across BNY facilities.

Responsibilities include staff mentoring, scheduling, and event support, with on-site emergencies and heavy lifting as part of daily duties. A high school diploma and 4+ years in facility management are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of facility management/janitorial experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a Unionized environment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Equipment repair and maintenance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 15+ laborers, mentoring and providing staff with training and professional development opportunities.
• Support the Custodial Services Manager with administrative tasks and facility initiatives.
• Delegate tasks and monitor productivity; issue janitorial supplies and equipment.
• Manage staff schedules, maintain timekeeping and personnel records.
• Coordinate Yard-wide events and provide hands-on support in emergencies.
