Job summary

Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service (inc) is seeking a custodial worker to maintain the interior and exterior of their building, ensuring a safe, clean and pleasant environment for all staff, residents and visitors.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning, graffiti control, routine inspections, floor care, light maintenance, and securing the facility after hours. The role requires physical capability and adherence to safety protocols; full-time hours apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to interact with the client population.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• MUST lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• MUST ascend/descend up to 8 flights of stairs.
• MUST handle hazardous substances with proper PPE.
• Driver's license with clean record is a plus.
• Pre-employment screenings required by OMH.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily cleaning of the facility and grounds, including snow and ice removal.
• Maintain the exterior free from graffiti and unsightly conditions.
• Perform routine maintenance inspections.
• Inspect and service A/C and heating units.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Clean and replace light bulbs and fixtures.
• Remove debris and trash; keep sanitation stocked.
• Secure facilities after operating hours and report damages.
• Assist with deliveries, pickups and minor repairs as needed.
• Report major damages and oversee repairs.
