Job summary

Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard, WA is hiring a Full-Time Cook 2 to serve our veterans. Work hours are 11:30 am–8:00 pm Tue–Sat; telework is not available. The role includes preparing meals for about 350 residents and staff, with collaboration across kitchen teams and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Two years' cooking experience in a large-scale food service or culinary operation.
• Experience in a supervisory or lead role in a food service setting.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation of dinner meals five days per week.
• Prepares food for approximately 350 residents, staff, and visitors.
• Schedules preparation activities to ensure sufficient quantities and diets.
• Works closely with Cook-1 and leads to supply serveries without waste.
• Ensures special items for residents are prepared with freshness and quality.
• Monitors food items for quality and modify recipes as needed.
• Keeps foods safe by proper storage, temperatures, and reheating per regs.
• Coordinates with dietary staff to ensure correct products and portions.
• Trains staff in use of recipes and proper kitchen procedures.
• Monitors kitchen operations and HACCP compliance.
