Maine Veterans’ Homes is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our culinary team. This full-time role offers a consistent weekend schedule and the opportunity to serve Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star families with nutritious, well-prepared meals.

You will prepare meals according to planned menus, adhere to safety guidelines, and collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate special diets while maintaining cleanliness in a supportive, team-oriented kitchen.

Qualifications

• Cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and respond to residents’ needs and inquiries in English is required.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and dietary requirements.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines.
• Ensure meals are appetizing, nutritious, and served on time.
• Work closely with dietary staff to accommodate special diets and resident preferences.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.
