Job summary

The Village Senior Residence in Missoula is seeking a part-time Cook for the evening shift. The primary role is to prepare cold foods, bakery and salads, following menus and recipes to ensure items are tasty, visually appealing and served on time.

Responsibilities include inspecting diets, assisting with food prep for meals and events, keeping work areas clean and safe, and following sanitary regulations. Prior kitchen experience and knowledge of food safety are preferred; state and federal

Qualifications

• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
• Six months experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledgeable in cooking large quantities of food with little to no direction on how to cook the recipes.
• Knowledgeable of culinary practices, procedures, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals that follow the menus and recipes. Food must be taste and temperature palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Inspect special diet trays to ensure that the correct diet is served to the residents. Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepare cold item foods, bakery and salad items.
• Cook hot foods as directed by Supervisor(s). Ensure culinary practices, procedures and food safety are followed.
• Adhere to food service timelines.
• Prepare and serve only authorized food substitutions to residents who refuse daily menu food options.
• Serve meals to residents and guests as needed.
• Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events.
• Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and Food ServSafe regulations.
• Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
