Job summary

Modine is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC machines for cutting, drilling, milling, and related tasks on metal and nonmetal workpieces. The role requires reading blueprints, planning sheets, and data to determine tooling and machining sequences, with emphasis on precision and safety.

Overtime is possible, with voluntary and mandatory overtime as needed. Responsibilities include mounting tooling, loading control media, calculating machine settings, and verifying part conformance

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
• Normal tolerance work: typically plus/minus 0.001 or less.
• Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as dull or broken cutting tools.
• Inspects and measures parts for conformance to blueprint.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
• Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work piece on machine.
• Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified.
• Loads control media or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions.
• Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle relative to work piece and regulate cutting factors.
• Starts machine and monitors operation to detect malfunctions.
• Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup and to measure parts for conformance to specifications.
