Job summary

Vanguard Medical Group in Hawthorne, NJ is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support providers and clinical operations. This full-time role requires evening availability until 8pm and rotating weekend shifts.

A shift differential of $2+ per hour applies after 6pm on weekdays and for weekend hours. Ideal candidates will have CMA/RMA certification preferred, 1+ year in a medical office, and proficiency with EMR systems (Athena a plus).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• CMA/RMA certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in a medical office or ambulatory setting preferred.
• Proficient in EMR; Athena experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be a proactive team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during exams, procedures, and treatments.
• Take and record vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, and chief complaint.
• Administer medications and injections per provider instruction and document in the EMR.
• Perform in-office testing (e.g., EKGs, urine dips, strep tests) and assist with phlebotomy as needed.
• Assist with minor procedures including sterilization of equipment, wound care, and dressing changes.
• Provide patient education as directed, including medication instructions and care plans.
• Conduct pre-visit chart prep by reviewing prior notes, labs, and consults.
• Flag health maintenance items for provider review and care gaps.
