Job summary

Ashford Gardens is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to provide medication administration and daily patient care. The role reports to licensed nursing staff and follows state and federal regulations while upholding facility policies.

This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities within a compassionate care environment. Must maintain English proficiency and active nursing assistant certification.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• May take and record vital signs as assigned or as required by medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and side effects of medications to a licensed nurse.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with regulations and policy.
• Documents reason for and response to PRN medications in a timely manner.
• May dispense narcotics and accounts for them under supervision.
• Secures medication carts/rooms per regulations and policy.
• Attends facility education in-services.
• Observation rounds under supervision of licensed nurse.
• Supervises nursing assistants/orderlies as assigned.
• Keeps medication room and carts clean and organized.
• Removes expired medications for destruction as per policy.
• Attends QA meetings as requested.
• Acts as Team Leader/Role Model.
• Adheres to Clinical Policies for Abuse Prevention; enforces responsibility to safeguard patients.
• Ensures patient safety and performs other duties as assigned.

Education
