Job summary

State of Louisiana's Department of Children and Family Services seeks a Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 to investigate alleged child abuse and neglect, gather case details for court, and provide testimony when required.

Placement will be determined by parish availability with a 4‑day workweek (10-hour shifts, 1:30 PM–midnight) and opportunities for career progression within the Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 series, benefiting communities and families.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in child welfare; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience substitution: every 30 semester hours earned equals one year of experience, up to 120 semester hours (four years).

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect.
• Support backlog cases by assisting with backlog cases and providing documentation.
• Gather and document detailed case information and records for court proceedings and provide testimony.
• Make timely referrals to family services, foster care programs, and community resources.
