Job summary

Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is seeking qualified candidates for Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 roles. The incumbent will conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse or neglect, support staff with backlog cases, and document detailed case information for court proceedings, including providing testimony when required.

Position offers a 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts (1:30 PM–midnight), opportunities across parishes, and a tiered SER pay scale

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in child welfare.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and/or neglect.
• Support first-shift staff by assisting with backlog cases.
• Gather and document detailed case information and records for court proceedings and provide testimony during court proceedings.
• Make timely and appropriate referrals to family services, foster care programs, and other community-based resources to address the needs of children and families.
