Job summary

State of Louisiana DCFS is seeking dedicated professionals for the Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 series across parishes. You will conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect, support staff with backlog cases, and document detailed records for court proceedings.

Location is placement-based, with a second-shift 4-day schedule (10-hour shifts 1:30 PM–midnight) and some weekends/holidays, offering meaningful public service and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in child welfare.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• A bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and or neglect.
• Support first-shift staff by assisting with backlog cases.
• Gather and document detailed case information and records for court proceedings and provide testimony during court proceedings.
• Make timely and appropriate referrals to family services, foster care programs, and other community-based resources to address the needs of children and families.
