Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the 2:00 PM–10:30 PM evening shift. You will provide technical support in pharmaceutical care, including medication preparation, IV admixtures, stock management, and assistance to licensed pharmacists at MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED where Nationally certified through NHA, Iowa Board of Pharmacy registration, and PTCB certification.

Qualifications

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (NHA) required.
• Iowa Board of Pharmacy registration required at time of hire.
• PTCB certification required; HS diploma not required if PTCB certified.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms and critical care areas.
• Restocks automated medication dispensing machines and carts.
• Supports pharmacists with audits and unit inspections.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquids and solids for patients.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes.

Education

High School Diploma or GED (NHA certified)

PTCB certification

Iowa Board of Pharmacy registration

Mandatory Reporter training (within 3 months)
