Job summary

Senior Lifestyle Corporation is seeking a Certified Medication Aide for the Assisted Living (AL) program on the Evening Shift, part-time in Norfolk, VA. You will assist with medications, MAR/TAR procedures, and provide personal care and nursing support to residents.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1+ months of related experience, and state-specific Medication Technician certification. Strong English communication and basic computer skills are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ months of experience; Senior Living preferred.
• Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with regulations and company guidelines.
• Count and sign narcotics with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys; report discrepancies.
• Order medications and treatments from pharmacy or notify responsible party when supplies fall below 7 days.
• Notify supervisor when supply is below 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received.
• Receive and verify all medicines against the MAR; notify pharmacy and DH&W of discrepancies.
• Store medications properly and keep lotions/ointments separate from oral meds.
• Date vials/bottles at opening and follow pharmacy protocol for usage duration.
• Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications and compare MARs at changeover.
• Remove discontinued medications from med cart and hand to supervisor.
• Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, etc.) and general nursing care (vitals, etc.).
• Document information in the daily log and notify supervisor of concerns.
• Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
• Daily cleaning of medicine carts and restocking; weekly deep cleaning.
• Attend staff trainings and in-services; maintain medical charts within 48 hours.
