Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL, seeks a Central Sterile Technician to support the Surgery Department by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments, following strict infection control protocols and operating autoclaves.

Evening shift 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, full-time. Candidates should have a high school diploma, current BLS, and a preferred Central Supply Certification. Two years of acute care sterilization experience is favored.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS (AHA) Certificate.
• Central Supply Certification, preferred.
• Two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical trays, instruments, and other surgical equipment following infection control and safety standards
• Monitor inventory levels and restock sterile supplies and surgical equipment to ensure continuous support for surgical procedures and patient care areas
• Enter accurate data into tracking systems and process patient charge cards to ensure proper documentation and billing
• Transport sterile and used instruments throughout all hospital departments with full knowledge of facility layout and departmental protocols
• Communicate effectively with surgical staff and clinical teams to anticipate needs and resolve equipment or supply issues promptly
• Identify and prepare correct instruments, trays, and patient care supplies for specific procedures, ensuring readiness and compliance with surgeon preferences
