Job summary

The NYS Office of General Services in Albany seeks a skilled maintenance worker to perform carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance, and related millwork. You will build, repair and install counters, cabinets, doors, windows, floors, and other fixtures, following NYS Building Codes and using standard carpentry techniques.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, prioritizing repairs, communicating with supervisors and trades, tracking hours in AiM, and preparing accurate reports.

Qualifications

  • Four years of full-time carpentry experience or training equivalent to a formal program.
  • Completion of a carpentry traineeship or equivalent program as described.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret building plans.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license when required for vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance including carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
  • Build, repair and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, windows, floors, and trim per NYS Building Codes.
  • Conduct general millwork and maintain shop machinery.
  • Inspect facilities to determine maintenance needs and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other trades workers.
  • Record daily assignments and hours in AiM and submit timely documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
