Job summary

University at Albany is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support building systems, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks on a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to use power tools and ladders safely on campus in Albany, NY.

Two years of maintenance experience or a related technical certificate is expected, with a valid NYS driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time maintenance or mechanical work experience or equivalent training.
• Completion of a two-year technical school program or NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate is acceptable.
• Candidates must have a valid NYS driver’s license for vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general trades.
• Install, repair, modify and maintain building fixtures, walls, floors, doors and hardware.
• Respond to maintenance requests and operate CMMS to document work and inventory.
