Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Building Manager to oversee daily operations for critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, with a 35-hour workweek from 2pm to 10pm. You will manage corrective and preventative maintenance, follow up on work tickets, and report to the Director of Engineering Operations.

The role requires a bachelor's degree with four years related experience, strong communication and leadership skills, and a valid Fire

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and four years of related experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and supervisory experience.
• Valid F-85 Fire Safety Director Certificate within nine months of employment.
• Ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of maintenance for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for follow-up on maintenance.
• Plan and coordinate major repairs and remodeling projects for properties.
• Maintain records of maintenance, operating costs, and permits.
• Ensure safety and compliance with fire life safety procedures and building logs.
• Respond to building fire alarms and interface with FDNY and CUIMC fire brigade.
