Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking an IMH Advanced Pharmacy Technician at the Harvey Campus to support intravenous homecare patients. You will enter prescriptions, prepare sterile parenteral/enteral medications, assist with inventory and purchasing, and maintain policy-compliant operations under pharmacist supervision.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, teamwork, and accurate documentation while supporting education of students and staff within the home infusion unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year experience in parenteral/enteral pharmacy preparations.
• Must be a certified pharmacy technician.
• Knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical law.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Pharmaceutical quality assurance experience with parenteral products.
• Excellent aseptic technique must be demonstrated on an ongoing basis.
• Ability to work in a team environment within the home infusion center.
• Illinois technician licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate prescription order entry processes that are held for pharmacist's review and authorization.
• Prepare and compound sterile parenteral/enteral pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, and chemotherapeutic agents under pharmacist's supervision.
• Initiate and complete delivery forms.
• Attend and participate in all patient care meetings and conferences.
• Responsible for knowing and adhering to Policy and Procedures governing pharmacy operations.
• Organize assigned work load to best facilitate its accomplishment.
• Prepare record and monitor results for pharmaceutical quality assurance testing.
• Assists with the management of pharmacy inventory and prepares purchase orders and validates receipt of pharmaceutical stock and supplies.
