Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Powertrain Validation Engineer to design, track, and execute validation strategies for our next-generation EV drive units. You will bridge concepts, rig testing, and production launch, ensuring durability and reliability of propulsion systems.

You will lead end-to-end validation plans, perform life and stress analyses, and communicate data-driven results to the engineering organization, while collaborating with the Test Operations group to meet aggressive milestones.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related field) required.
• 2+ years in automotive or EV engineering; EV validation experience preferred.
• Experience with powertrains, driveline systems, high-voltage components.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Strategy: Own the DVP&R for the electric powertrain system.
• Define engineering requirements and baseline test parameters using calculations and simulations.
• Standardize testing: create detailed test instructions and approve test profiles.
• Drive testing milestones with Test Operations to meet program deadlines.
• Support external validation efforts and safely operate Rivian driveline systems at supplier facilities.
• Oversee teardown and diagnostics with rigorous documentation.
• Deliver validation procedures detailing equipment, apparatus, and testing locations.
• Lead root-cause analysis and life/stress calculations to implement design actions.
• Create data-driven test reports and communicate results to the engineering team.
• Manage product lifecycle tools to trace features from design to OTA updates.
