Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Long Beach is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to develop vehicle electrical hardware and architecture across propulsion, body, thermal, and safety subsystems. You will enable end-to-end integration of hardware components and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product design and testing.

This role blends desk work with hands-on lab and vehicle time in a hybrid setup, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience with complex electrical systems.
• Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering.
• Hands-on proficiency with electrical test equipment.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with requirements capture in JAMA or similar.
• Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and communication.
• Willing to work cross-functionally in a dynamic team.
• Systems approach to design and development; delivery focus.
• EV prototype development or Labcars experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Bring up components hands-on across benches, bucks, labcars, and vehicles.
• Perform component- and system-level characterization testing.
• Debug hardware failures from first principles.
• Develop prototype subsystem hardware assemblies.
• Integrate production hardware into prototype systems.
• Review supplier hardware deliverables and document discrepancies.
• Write and execute integration test plans.
• Support electrical validation at vehicle build.
• Decompose vehicle behavior into system requirements in JAMA.
