Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Validation Engineer in the Charging Systems Engineering group to validate charging system hardware and software interfaces, develop test plans, and lead cross-functional testing for EV charging interoperability. You will work with Powertrain, Firmware, and Integration teams to ensure robust charger performance across supplier DC systems.

The role requires 3–5 years in EV charging, knowledge of CCS/ISO 15118 and HV safety, plus hands-on experience with CAN,

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in EV charging systems.
• Knowledge of DC fast charging and interoperability.
• Experience with CAN, PLC, and serial interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Execute verification and validation testing charger interoperability across supplier DC charging systems.
• Develop and implement test cases derived from interoperability and conformance standards (e.g., CCS, ISO 15118, DIN 70121) in collaboration with Powertrain Engineering, Firmware, and Integration/Validation teams.
• Create structured test plans and maintain comprehensive test suites, ensuring clear documentation to support engineering design decisions.
• Configure, operate, and troubleshoot test equipment, including engineering tools (e.g., Vector CANoe, CANalyzer), power supplies, electronic loads, and charging test assets.
• Manage test infrastructure, including hardware configurations, equipment calibration, software versions, and test documentation.
• Investigate field issues by analyzing vehicle and charging logs (CAN, Ethernet), performing root cause analysis, validating fixes, and driving issues to closure.
• Support integration, commissioning, and supplier validation activities, requiring up to 50% travel to various field sites.
