Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in EV charging systems.
  • Strong understanding of EV/EVSE charging fundamentals, interoperability, and vehicle-level validation.
  • Solid knowledge of DC fast charging technologies and relevant global standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute verification and validation testing for vehicle-to-charger interoperability across supplier DC charging systems.
  • Develop and implement test cases based on interoperability and conformance standards such as CCS, ISO 15118, and DIN 70121.
  • Collaborate with Powertrain Engineering, Firmware, and Integration/Validation teams.
  • Create structured test plans and maintain comprehensive test suites and documentation.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot test equipment including Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, power supplies, electronic loads, and charging test assets.
  • Manage test infrastructure, including hardware configurations, equipment calibration, software versions, and test documentation.
  • Investigate field issues by analyzing CAN and Ethernet logs, performing root‑cause analysis, validating fixes, and driving issues to closure.
  • Support integration, commissioning, and supplier validation activities.
  • Travel to various field sites as required, with up to 50% travel.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Charger Validation Engineer to perform verification and validation testing for EV and EVSE charging interoperability across various supplier DC charging systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with EV charging systems, DC fast charging, vehicle‑level validation, communication protocols, and automotive test tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute verification and validation testing for vehicle‑to‑charger interoperability across various supplier DC charging systems.
  • Develop and implement test cases based on interoperability and conformance standards such as CCS, ISO 15118, and DIN 70121.
  • Collaborate with Powertrain Engineering, Firmware, and Integration/Validation teams.
  • Create structured test plans and maintain comprehensive test suites and documentation.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot test equipment including Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, power supplies, electronic loads, and charging test assets.

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in EV charging systems, including charging session analysis and validation.
  • Strong understanding of EV/EVSE charging fundamentals, interoperability, and vehicle‑level validation.
  • Solid knowledge of DC fast charging technologies and relevant global standards:
  • SAE J1772
  • SAE J3400
  • DIN 70121
  • ISO 15118
  • IEC 61851
  • Experience analyzing communication protocols such as CAN, PLC, and serial interfaces.
  • Hands‑on experience with tools such as CANalyzer, PCAN View, Wireshark, and terminal interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
  • Experience working safely with high‑voltage systems up to approximately 500 VDC and AC power systems, including single‑and three‑phase.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
