Job summary

Rivian Automotive is seeking a systems engineer to own electrical sub-systems within our high power DC charging products. You will coordinate hardware and software interfaces, drive requirements from definition through testing, and contribute to system-architecture decisions.

The role requires collaboration across vehicle, cloud, and mobile teams, plus rigorous documentation and data-driven optimization of charging systems. A 2+ year systems engineering background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2+ years of system engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for project management.
• Experience with DFMEA and functional safety analysis.
• Ability to apply data analysis tools and AI in daily workflow.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of key electrical sub-systems and functionals within DC high power charging products.
• Delivery of electrical hardware and charging functions by coordinating hardware and software teams.
• Ownership of requirements development and sign-off across multiple teams.
• Contribute to architecture development and system-level design for charging products.
• Analyze design impacts of alternate designs or new components/vendors.
• Collaborate with validation teams on requirement traceability and testing.
• Solve routine problems and contribute to team objectives.
• Work with software team to define interfaces and ensure integration.
• Analyze test data to identify performance trends in electrical/power systems.
• Suggest design modifications to improve performance and durability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, manuals, specs, test reports).
• Contribute to development of concepts and complete complex tasks creatively.
