Job summary

Magnit Direct Sourcing, on behalf of Toyota, is seeking a Contract Engineer for a 12-month assignment in Liberty, North Carolina. The role centers on production preparation and the launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment at TBMNC, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 5+ years in engineering, with CAD proficiency (AutoCAD/CATIA/Creo), lean manufacturing experience, and capital-project leadership. Travel and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
5+ years in an engineering role with relevant experience.
Experience with production preparation of battery/electronics equipment.
Experience leading capital projects with schedule and budget control.
CAD reading and modification of 2D/3D drawings (AutoCAD/CATIA/Creo).
Proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint; able to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Lead procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials and launch of EV battery equipment.
Create and maintain detailed schedules and budget control for the area.
Develop battery manufacturing process plans and machine specs using lean principles.
Apply multidisciplinary design knowledge for equipment sizing, routing, and components.
Create clear documents and drawings for stakeholders including vendors and contractors.
Collaborate across functions and international boundaries to drive progress.
Plan and monitor installation, identify field issues and countermeasure with teams.
Support safety culture and ensure compliance with site requirements.
Lead pre-production and mass production trials and mentor team members.
