Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a Contract Engineer for a 12-month assignment in Liberty, North Carolina to support EV battery manufacturing equipment readiness and startup. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar field with 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
• 5 years preferred in production prep of Battery/Electronics/Chemical manufacturing equipment.
• Experience creating process plans and machine specifications using lean principles.
• Experience leading capital projects with detailed schedules, budgetary control, and KPI reporting.
• Ability to read/modify 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD/CATIA/Creo.
• Proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint (intermediate+).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
• Ability to work weekends and shutdowns (e.g., July/December).

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials and launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment.
• Create schedules and budget control for assigned area.
• Create battery manufacturing process plans and machine specifications with TPS knowledge.
• Apply engineering criteria across design choices for sizing, routing, materials, components.
• Prepare explanatory documents and drawings for stakeholders including vendors, contractors, owners, and management.
• Collaborate across functions and borders to drive progress and goals.
• Plan and monitor installation, identify field issues, coordinate with builders and vendors.
• Support safety culture and compliance with construction safety requirements.
• Demonstrate quality-first leadership during pre-production and mass production trials.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering standards and work instructions.
• Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer.
