Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Battery Disassembly Technician to safely disassemble EV battery packs and modules in a high-volume manufacturing setting. You will follow strict high-voltage safety procedures, perform component-level disassembly, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

The role requires precise handling of lithium-ion materials, use of diagnostic tools, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain production flow and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must participate in high voltage training and certifications.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of PPE requirements and OSHA safety standards.
• Experience with safe handling of lithium-ion battery materials is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe, high-volume disassembly of EV battery packs and modules per work instructions and safety procedures.
• Strictly follow high-voltage safety protocols, LOTO, and PPE requirements; de-energize and verify status before handling high-voltage systems.
• Disassemble battery systems down to module level, remove BMS components, wiring, busbars, cooling systems, and structures.
• Identify components for reuse, recycling, or disposal in line with environmental standards.
• Transport and store battery packs and hazardous materials using proper material handling equipment.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, EHS, and Maintenance to improve disassembly processes and safety controls.
• Assist field operations on decommissioning projects, including on-site disassembly and material recovery.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment per 5S; operate material handling equipment and mechanical lifts (training provided).
• Stand for long shifts, perform repetitive lifting (30-50 lbs), and support ergonomic improvements.
