Job summary

Colonial Oil Industries in Houston, TX is seeking an IT Business Analyst I – ETRM to learn and support our energy trading and risk management platform. You will work with traders, schedulers, and operations to troubleshoot issues and document requirements.

The role emphasizes data validation with SQL, process documentation, test-case development, and onboarding. Some travel to Savannah and other Colonial offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, engineering, CS, information systems, or related analytical field.
• Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities with comfort handling numbers and formulas.
• Clear written and verbal communication to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• Solid Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables, with large data sets.
• Accurate, precise work in settlement/invoicing with attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn the commodity trading business and ask questions until understood.

Responsibilities

• Learn the end-to-end trade lifecycle and how the ETRM platform supports each step.
• Provide day-to-day application support: triage questions, reproduce problems, document, and drive resolution.
• Investigate data questions using SQL and validate volumes, prices, positions, and invoices.
• Document current-state processes with procedures, maps, and glossaries; keep reference material current.
• Gather and write requirements for enhancements and translate into specifications for developers.
• Support testing: build test cases, run functional/regression tests, track defects to closure.
• Assist with user onboarding, security, and training materials.
• Support system interfaces and scheduled jobs, monitor and troubleshoot.
• Participate in data validation, reconciliation, cutover checklists, and post-go-live support.
