Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a highly motivated ETO Design Engineer for our Custom Design Engineering Group in the Engineer-to-Order factory. You will design, prototype, and ready products for production, collaborating across design, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, BOM management, CAD documentation, and UL compliance knowledge within a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or custom design environment.
• Strong understanding of BOM structures and ERP systems.
• Engineer-to-order (ETO) process experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with other CAD tools such as Creo are a plus.
• Hands-on experience with prototype assembly and testing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Knowledge with UL requirements as they pertain to design build of electrical equipment.
• Familiar with production floor tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, mechanical instruments).

Responsibilities

• Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Review and scrub BOMs for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
• Design & Documentation: Create and update detailed AutoCAD drawings and engineering documentation.
• Prototype Development: Lead and assist in prototype builds, collaborating across teams and with UL representatives.
• Testing & Quality Support: Participate in product testing and assist QA with inspections and compliance.
• Creation of part specifications.
