The Architect is responsible for application systems design, balancing design elegance with financial pragmatism. The individual in this position is knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and delivering midrange (Wintel and UNIX) and mainframe (zOS) application systems, SQL and DB2 database, Oracle, Cloud native technology, Informatica but cloud solutions IDMC or IICS. Some experience in mainframe is a plus for updating purposes and is comfortable in developing platform appropriate non-functional requirements and evaluating design specifications for new and existing applications.
Focus on design quality for application data, workflow, system processes, hardware/software environment, integration interfaces, and outputs.
Responsibilities include leadership of technical delivery to ensure compliance with Architecture Standards, customer requirements, and governance policies, communication with the organization, customers, and vendors to educate and drive adoption of those standards.
The ETL Architect will design and develop solutions, write ETL Informatica mapping. Must have knowledge of data quality and governance processes. Healthcare experience required - payor experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and defines architecture requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, platform environment, software, and system interfaces.
- Contributes to the conceptual and physical design of application and data solutions to provide guidance on the cost/performance tradeoff to NASCO’s vendors, product owners, and project managers.
- Reviews and approves detailed designs produced by delivery vendors.
- Researches, evaluates, and provides guidance on hardware platform and software solutions to support projects.
- Ensures the architectural integrity of projects and solutions in line with NASCO’s System Management Strategy standards and guidelines.
- Works with product and project teams to analyze and understand enterprise business drivers to determine business information and system architecture requirements.
- Communicates with the business community.
- Contributes to the evaluation, selection, and implementation of software product standards, and the design of standard configurations.
- Assists Project Managers to define and document technical scope based on customer/business needs for assigned projects.
- Evaluates, recommends, and justifies technical scope and direction changes during Planning and Design phases.
- Contributes to Architecture Review Board material and decision criteria.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- 10+ years of IT experience in Data Engineering, Data Quality, Data Migrations, Data Architecture, Data Lake formation and Data Analytics.
- 7 years of progressive experience in distributed IT system design, with technical leadership responsibilities.
- 1 years of experience in architecture and technical strategy formulation and alignment with the business.
- Recent hands on experience with Informatica.
- Deep knowledge of service implementation as it relates to a multi-platform service oriented architecture.
- Establishes and enforces ETL Informatica standards for documentation, development, and deployment.
- Implements ETL Informatica best practices and standardization.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Manager of Data Acquisition to ensure tasks are identified and appropriately estimated.
- Assists the Manager of Data Acquisition in the scoping of projects and the allocation of ETL resources.
- Work closely with Data Architects, Sr. Informatica Developers, Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts in the Analytics team to ensure ETL jobs are designed appropriately to meet the requirements.
- Establishes and enforces standards for code reviews and unit test cases.
- Creates and develops ETL jobs as well as data quality and cleansing routines.
- Mentors other resources to enhance their ETL skills and grow in the Analytics team.
- Assist with data modeling and data architecture tasks when required.
- May assist in one or more components of the overall architecture of the data warehouse system.
- Design, develop and unit test ETL solutions based on business requirements and project deliverable timelines using the Analytics ETL framework, standards, and best practices.
- Conduct performance analysis and optimization of Data Services jobs.
- Production support of ETL jobs when required.
- Assist the infrastructure team in coordinating and developing process automation/job scheduling and maintain a master schedule of all ETL jobs including dependencies, sources and targets.
- Must have very good working exposure on different kind of databases like RDBMS, No SQL Columnar, Document, distributed databases, Cloud Databases, in memory databases etc.
- Experience on AWS services like S3, EMR, VPC, EC2, IAM, EBS, RDS, Glue, Lambda, Lake Formation etc.
- Must have worked in producing architecture document for small to large solution implementations. Experience on handling very high-volume streaming data in various format like JSON, XML, AVRO, Snappy etc.
- Exposure to Kafka to design future streaming capacity planning, partition Planning, Read and write.
- Knowledge of all components of application design in a high-volume, high-availability environment.
- Working knowledge of relevant technologies for transaction management, data management, system integration, and system user interfacing.
- Ability to apply the long-term (big picture) perspective to tactical situations.
- Ability to recognize and communicate financial impact of HW/SW and architecture alternatives.
- Ability to evaluate information quickly, identify key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgment, experience, and common sense.

- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related study, or equivalent experience.
