Job summary

Thrivent Financial in Minneapolis seeks a Workforce Compliance & Ethics Consultant to advise on complex employee matters, contribute to policy development, and support investigations with confidentiality and integrity.

You will partner with HR, COEs, and business leaders to manage enterprise risk, develop training opportunities, and ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, wage/hour, and related laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, legal studies, analytics, public policy, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in employee relations, ethics, compliance, human resources, generalist, or a related field.
• Experience supporting complex or sensitive workforce matters, compliance programs, and/or cross-functional business processes.
• Knowledge in EEO, Unemployment, AAP, FMLA, Employment at Will, Severance Agreements, Discipline, Due Process, Employment Statutes, Regulations, Policies and Procedures and understanding of laws that pertain to employment law.
• Relationship management skills and ability to influence decisionmakers across functions and levels.
• Sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, diplomacy, and business acumen.
• Attention to detail; analytical and critical thinking with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, recommendations and solutions to enterprise corporate and field leaders regarding complex or highly sensitive employee and field issues.
• Utilize advanced subject matter expertise to provide guidance on compliance and policy related topics such as EEO and Non-Discrimination, Wage and Hour, ADA, Business Gifts & Entertainment, and Conflicts of Interest.
• Provide expert consultation and guidance to business leaders, key stakeholders and COEs to ensure workforce matters are proactively managed and/or resolved while appropriately managing enterprise risk.
• Identify internal and external compliance and ethics trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement for team accountabilities and educate key stakeholders as appropriate.
• Represent the team on business initiatives by independently leading projects, setting and managing timelines, escalating issues, and communicating progress with key partners and leaders.
• Provide input into the formulation, application, and revision of team-owned policies.
• Develop new policies and update current policies to ensure compliance and sound practices for new or existing employment laws.
• Identify process improvements for the team’s function and make recommendations.
