Job summary

Indie Homes is seeking an experienced Estimator & Purchasing Manager in West Michigan (Grand Haven area) to lead estimating, purchasing and vendor management for our residential projects. The role focuses on developing accurate budgets, obtaining competitive bids, and managing costs throughout the construction process.

You will collaborate with sales, design, construction and finance to ensure budgets are met and homeowner expectations are exceeded.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• detail-oriented and organized
• experience in estimating and purchasing for residential construction

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate construction budgets and estimates before construction begins
• Manage purchasing operations, securing best quality and price from vendors and subcontractors
• Coordinate with sales, construction, design and finance to resolve discrepancies and align purchasing with project schedules
• Monitor actual costs against budget and take corrective actions to protect profitability
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure performance and reliability

WhatYou'llDo:

In this role, you will support anexceptionalteam, all working with a shared sense of purpose, that you willprovideestimating,purchasingandvendormanagement,projectcoordination, and budgetcontrol for. Specifically,you'll:

• First and foremost, align with ourcompanymission and values
• Use your 5+ years of experience (or equivalent background and skillset) in asimilar role to take ownership of developingaccurateconstruction budgets, obtainingcompetitive bids,and managingcosts throughout the construction process
• Develop estimates and budgetsbefore construction begins, setting a standard ofhigh attention to detail
• Manageourpurchasingoperation,negotiatingthe best quality and price for the homeowners we serve
• Buildrelationshipswith vendors and subcontractors, monitoring and evaluating performance and trends
• Own the project budgets, improving profit marginsthrough corrective actions as youmonitoractual costsagainstbudget
• Collaborate with team members including sales, construction, design, and finance to resolve discrepancies and ensure purchasing alignswith project schedules
• Maintain and continuously improve our estimation andpurchasingprocesses, navigatingroadblocksand creating solutions
