Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an Estimator II in Seattle to gather and calculate data for project estimates. For smaller projects, you will prepare full estimates.

You will create project estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and solicit trade bids while supporting the lead estimator with data entry in estimating software. This role also involves training new estimators and interns.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum three years' construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations.
• Current driver's license.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Applicable mathematical skills.
• Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth.
• Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.

Responsibilities

• Create Project Estimates.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials.
• Solicit trade partners and obtain bid estimates for vendor proposals and estimate summaries.
• Assist in preparing RFP documents and use schedules for estimating GC and other items.
• Determine pricing options and project price.
• Support lead estimator with data entry in estimating software.
• Archive filing and historical cost data gathering.
• Participate in plan and estimate reviews, and site investigations as needed.
• Gather information from authorities affecting projects (permits, hearings, etc.).
• Help manage Addendum logs and documents from customers/clients.
• Provide training to new estimators and interns.
