Job summary

Amrize North America Inc. is seeking an Estimator II to prepare cost estimates for roadway improvement projects and associated scopes. You will build relationships for asphalt subcontracting and assist in bidding strategies on Design-Build/CMAR opportunities.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 5-7 years of experience preferred. B2W knowledge advantageous. This is a full-time role in Las Vegas, NV with a focus on safe project delivery.

Qualifications

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Estimator (Civil Construction) prepares cost estimates for roadway improvement projects for DOT and Public Works agency bid opportunities. Job responsibilities would also include estimating wet utility and concrete scopes as well a grading, structural excavation and backfill together with estimating asphalt projects on commercial and residential projects as well as building relationships for asphalt subcontracting opportunities. B2W Estimate software experience would be advantageous.They will also aid management in bidding strategeries as well as sourcing and developing Design-Build / CMAR bid opertunities.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all workenvironments and areas.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Assesscost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the projectdevelops. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen todiscuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Confer with engineers, architects, mgmt, contractorsand subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Prepare estimates used bymanagement for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost effective to produce orpurchase components. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation atregular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. Establish and maintain tendering process,and conduct negotiations. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and relatedcost data or to effect cost reduction.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations orconclusions.
  • Acts as a mentor to Estimator’s and Estimating Specialists, assisting them with questions regarding jobspecifications and the bidding process.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety andenvironmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit thesebehaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelors degree or years of equivalent experience

Required Work Experience: 5-7 years

Required Training/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable experience and/or training.Compensation will review the educational and years of experience requirements once the completeddescription has been submitted.

Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
