Job summary

Oldcastle Infrastructure, a CRH company, is seeking an Estimator to balance customer needs with profitability by accurately summarizing project costs from drawings and technical documents.

You will review RFQs, prepare take-offs and quotes, and partner with sales, engineering, production, and transportation to deliver timely proposals. This onsite role reports to the Estimation team in Avon, CT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of construction and/or bidding experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of software for proposal drawings.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Complete take-offs and quotes for RFQs from outside sales.
• Send quotes to customers before due date with copy to outside salesperson.
• Manage overflow projects to ensure timely turnaround.
• Communicate with customers on quantity verification and quote structure.
• Collaborate with sales on proposal strategy and design changes.
• Work with vendors to prepare bids and write proposals.
• Manage bids of varying size and complexity.
• Review drawings, specifications and proposals to prepare cost and labor estimates.
• Use market-based price lists provided by the sales manager.
• Help develop department improvements and data templates.
