Job summary

Puget Collision in Salem, OR is hiring an Estimator Apprentice. This hourly role trains toward an Estimator position, with a typical training period of 1–3 years and a pay range of $20.00–$25.00 per hour.

You will learn auto body estimating, DRP processes, and ADAS requirements while supporting the collision repair team. The position emphasizes accurate documentation, efficient vehicle cycle times, and strong customer communication.

Qualifications

• I-CAR Pro-Level 1 certification within 90 days of start.
• Knowledgeable in Auto Body Estimating; able to utilize Mitchell and CCC estimating systems.
• Knowledge of metal/refinish replacement and repair techniques.
• Excellent customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication.
• Adheres to the company’s non-disclosure and confidentiality policies concerning customer information.

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities according to the Company Standard Operating Procedures.
• Identify express repairs and schedule vehicles to obtain cycle time efficiency.
• Increase profitability by proper application of labor resources, sales mix, and ensuring repair vs replace.
• Write a complete auto body collision repair plan after disassembling the vehicle including thorough photo documentation and pre-scanning.
• Ensure repairs adhere to OE standards, DRP part choices, refinish guidelines and ADAS requirements for calibrations and scanning.
• Verify quality is checked at each stage of the vehicle repair process.
• Source, order & receive parts according to insurer and company guidelines.
• Ensure accurate final bill and estimate accuracy; sublet posted, all supplements noted including customer authorizations and parts listed correctly per DRP guidelines.
• Ensure proper customer communication, keeping them informed throughout the repair; notes in the file accurate and complete.
• Deliver the vehicle to the customer with the repair overview, paperwork and final payments.
